Gil Weakens, Hurricane Henriette Still Unpredictable
Forecasters continue to monitor two systems in the Pacific that are currently to the southeast of the islands.
The weather system known as Gil has since been downgraded and is no longer a tropical cyclone, according to an update issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday night.
Forecasters have stopped issuing advisories for that particular area of moisture.
Another system, Henriette, remains at hurricane strength with sustained winds of 85 mph.
The system was last located 1345 miles ESE of Hilo, and 1,440 miles ESE of Kahului, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
Forecasters say Henriette is expected to pass south of Hawai`i, possibly on Sunday, but is still too far away to determine its potential impact on the state.
