Eight Pounds of Pot Found in Carry-On Bag

Police last week arrested a 39-year-old Puna man waiting to fly out of Hilo after he was allegedly found with eight pounds of marijuana in a carry-on bag.
Wendell Figueroa Jr. of Mountain View was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Friday on suspicion of attempted commercial promotion of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said four two-pound bags of marijuana were recovered from a duffle bag in the Hilo airport terminal where Figueroa was waiting for his flight.
Figueroa was released without charges pending further investigation.
