A night of gorgeous classical and jazz music begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, with Gary Washburn and Ignace “Iggy” Jang performing at the Honoka`a People’s Theatre.

The abundant musicianship of both on performance night will be apparent immediately. Each is known for his creativity and skill and are both seriously seasoned artists.

Washburn is also a devoted teacher, music lover and inspiring musical force to his students.

Under his direction in 2011, the Honoka`a High School Jazz Band won a Signature Schools Enterprise Grammy Award. Honoka`a High was one of 36 schools across the nation to receive this prestigious award.

Jang’s classical expertise on strings has been demonstrated onstage in chamber and orchestral settings. This concertmaster is also the string program director of the Hawai`i Performing Arts Festival.
