The county Department of Water Supply will be temporarily stopping water service in the Napo`opo`o area of Kona Thursday, July 18, to allow for a new water connection.

The shut-off is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The affected areas include all services along Napo`opo`o Road all the way down to the Pu`uhonua junction, and including Manini Beach, Kahauloa road and Ke`ei Beach Lots to the south on Pu`uhonua Road.

The outage is necessary to make a waterline connection for the Kamehameha School – Ke`ei meter installation.

Upon resumption of water service, waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time turbid or discolored water may be noticed, the department said.

Air may also become trapped in plumbing and will be released as water is used.

The department requested that affected customers take any precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities including disabling electrical power to pumps or other devices where normal operation may be dependent on water pressure or supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shut-off.

For more information, call District Supervisor Robert Ravenscraft at 322-0600.
