One-Car Crash Leaves Vehicle Overturned on Kanoelehua

A one-car accident today sent one man to the hospital and left his vehicle upside down on a busy Hilo street.

The accident occurred shortly before noon on the north-bound lane of Kanoelehua Avenue in front of the Puainako KTA supermarket.

According to preliminary information from police, both of the vehicle’s occupants were able to exit the upside-down Saturn on their own.

The 31-year-old driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said. The vehicle’s 33-year-old passenger was apparently not injured.

Both men are from Pahoa.

Information on how the vehicle overturned was not immediately available.
