Health officials are reminding the public that free medical clinics will be in operation for the next nine days in Ka`u.

As previously reported by Big Island Now, the Tropic Care 2013 clinics are the result of a partnership between state health officials, the US Department of Defense and a variety of community organizations.

The clinics will operate through June 12 at Ka`u High & Elementary School and the Ocean View Community Center.

The clinic hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for the final day when they will close at noon.

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The public should be aware that there may be long wait times.

For more information on Tropic Care 2013 call (808) 974-6035 or email Martha Yamada of the Public Health Nursing Section at martha.yamada@doh.hawaii.gov.
