Head-On Crash on Kawaihae Road Injures Two

Two people were injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision on the Kawaihae Road.
Fire department personnel responding to a 6:25 p.m. call found that the vehicles had collided in the Waimea-bound lane in the area of Anekona Estates.
According to Capt. Michael Ichimura of the Waimea Fire Station, both vehicles sustained substantial damage and one of the drivers was pinned inside.
The accident required the detouring of traffic to Waikoloa Road via Highway 19 for several hours.
