Fire department inspectors are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that damaged a Puna home early Sunday.

Firefighters arriving two minutes after a 5:53 a.m. alarm found the converted two-car garage on Kiawe Street partially engulfed with flames coming out a back window of the structure.

The home was located off Kaloli Drive.

It took 14 personnel, including three volunteer firefighters, 35 minutes to get the fire under control and another several minutes to extinguish it.

An unidentified number of residents were evacuated to an open area from the home and a roadblock was temporarily established

No injuries were reported.

The cost of the damage to the structure was not immediately available.
