A 26-year-old man has been charged with burglary and theft in connection with a break-in at a Hilo home last week.

Police said bail for Scottie I.K. Yanagawa of Hilo was set at $35,000.

On May 3, a 38-year-old woman told police  that someone had stolen items from her home.

Police determined that some of the items had been sold to pawn shops in Hilo. They were able to recover some of the stolen property and obtained information leading to Yanagawa’s identification.

He was arrested Tuesday morning and charged later that day.

Police on Saturday also arrested 25-year-old Suzy Cho Chun of Hilo in connection with the same burglary.

She was charged with theft for allegedly being in possession of some of the stolen items. Bail for Chun was set at $2,000.

A man arrested with Chun was later released without charges.
