Big Isle Home Prices Rose Last Month

Median home prices on Hawaii Island rose last month compared to the same month last year, although the number of sales declined.

In March, the median sales price of a single-family home in Hawaii County was $270,000, up 26% from the March 2012 median home price of $215,000, according to the Pacific Business News, which cited data released by Hawaii Information Service.

And while median prices increased, the number of sales decreased. Last month there were 139 home sales, down 22% from 161 sales in March 2012.

Condominium median prices on island saw only a slight increase in year over year figures, up 0.3 % last month to $310,750 from $309,950 during the same month last year.

Condo sales rose 4% in March with 54 sales compared to 52 sales in March 2012.
