Captain Cook Home Destroyed in Early Morning Fire

A fire of unknown origin destroyed a home in Captain Cook early Saturday morning.

Firefighters responding to a 12:39 a.m. call found the home at 82-2772 Mamalahoa Highway collapsed from the blaze, with brush around the house on fire and the powerline sparking.

It took nine firefighters 20 minutes to bring it under control and another two hours to extinguish the flames.

Damage was estimated at $80,000. Nobody was injured.
