Kalanikoa Street Converting to One-Way Traffic for Merrie Monarch

Hawaii County police announced today that Kalanikoa Street will be converted to one-way traffic between Pi`ilani and Kuawa during the Merrie Monarch festival.

Traffic will be allowed to flow in the makai, or northern direction on Kalanikoa Street.

The one-way traffic pattern will remain in effect 24 hours a day beginning at noon Wednesday, April 3, and ending at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 7.

Drivers traveling west on Pi`ilani Street will be allowed to turn right onto Kalanikoa Street. Left turns will not be allowed onto Kalanikoa Street from Piʻilani Street.

Both right and left turns will be allowed to one-way traffic on Kalanikoa Street to get to the Hoʻolulu Complex, and to access area businesses.

Regular traffic patterns will remain in effect on Manono, Kuawa and Pi`ilani Streets.
