Foul Play Not Suspected in Death of Baby in Bed

Kona police are investigating the death of a 2-month-old girl near Holualoa.

The baby’s mother told officers responding to a 5:44 a.m. call that she had found her daughter unresponsive in bed.

After calling 911 the mother began cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. County paramedics continued the CPR efforts while the girl was transported to Kona Community Hospital.

The baby was pronounced dead at 6:22 a.m.

Police said they do not suspect foul play. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Police said the family lived on the 74-4000 block of Mamalahoa Highway.
