Police are asking for the public’s help locating a missing Japanese tourist.

Hiromichi Yoshino, 51, was last seen shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Yoshino’s rented vehicle, a burgundy-colored Kia four-door sedan, was found at the end of Highway 130 in Kalapana, near the lava-viewing area.

The vehicle, which was unlocked, was believed to have been there since Thursday.

Yoshino may have been staying at a bed-and-breakfast in Volcano Village.

Anyone with information on Yoshino is asked to call Officer Shea Nactor of Puna Patrol at (808) 965-2716, or the police department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
