Police Investigating Burglaries in Kaumana, Piihonua

Police are asking for the public’s help locating a 21-year-old Hilo man wanted for questioning about recently burglaries in the Kaumana area of Hilo.

Kyson Kaleiwahea is also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

He is described as 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, with brown eyes and hair. He has tattoos on his neck, left leg, lower back and on the back of his neck.

Kaleiwahea is believed to be in the Kaumana or Piihonua areas.

Police say that burglaries have recently been occurring in those areas, usually in the late afternoon or evening hours. They have been receiving reports that residents there have been encountering a male suspect on foot who, when confronted, claims he is looking for a lost puppy.


Anyone with information on Kaleiwahea’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department at 935-3311.
