Public’s Help Sought Finding Shooting Incident Suspect
Police are again asking for the public’s help locating a 47-year-old man allegedly involved in a shooting incident last summer.
Police began looking for James Gannon Coffey of Mountain View last July after a woman reported that Coffey had fired at least one gunshot at her.
The woman told police that she had gone to Coffey’s home on Overview Road in Mountain View to retrieve some property. While there she and Coffey got into a verbal confrontation, and as she was leaving she heard what sounded like a gunshot.
When she turned back toward Coffey she saw him point a firearm at her and fire another round, the woman told police.
The woman was not injured.
Police have classified the case as second-degree attempted murder.
Coffey is Caucasian, 5-foot-10 and about 150 pounds. He has hazel eyes and short graying hair. He may be operating a brown, late-model Toyota pickup.
The public is advised not to approach Coffey as he may be armed and dangerous. He is also wanted on an outstanding warrant for violating probation,.
Anyone with information on Coffey is asked to contact Det. Joel Field at 961-2381 or by email at jfield@co.hawaii.hi.us.
Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
