Victim of December Drowning Off Keahole Point Identified

A man whose body was recovered off Kona’s Keahole Point on Dec. 29 has been identified as Ryan David Whisler.
According to police, Whisler was found floating face-down 100 yards off shore.
The 40-year-old Kailua-Kona man was a former resident of Centralia, Wash.
According to an obituary that ran Wednesday in The Chronicle newspaper, his family said that he was fond of opihi, despite their inherent risks.
