The University of Hawaii Foundation has announced one of the single largest private donations ever made to the UH system.

An anonymous donor is giving $9.2 million to help support various programs at the university. The individual’s identity will not be revealed until their death.

The anonymous gift will be used to help build the Culinary Institute of the Pacific facility at Diamond Head on Oahu, in addition to helping construct the Hawaiian Rare Plant Conservation Lab at the Lyon Arboretum at UH Mānoa.

Funds will also benefit the Institute for Astronomy, School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, and the John A. Burns School of Medicine at UH Manoa.
