UPDATE: Papaikou Water Main Break Repaired

A water main break that caused low water pressure for residents from Papaikou to Paukaa was repaired Wednesday night.

The county Department of Water Supply said the break occurred at about 2 p.m. Wednesday near Anderton Camp.

Repairs were completed Wednesday ahead of schedule. The water main was repaired by 7 p.m. and road patching was completed less than two hours later.

The reduced water pressure was occurring mauka of a several-mile stretch of Highway 19 in the areas of Anderton Camp, Silverton Camp, Moirton Camp, Kalaoa, Ka‘ie‘ie, Pu‘u‘eōpaku and Pauka‘a.

An earlier report from the department had said that the water main break had left those customers without water service.
