Original choreography, impressive stage work, aerial dance, ballet, jazz dance and more will be on display at the Great Leaps dance event on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

This sell-out event takes place at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo Performing Arts Center and features students from the university as well as Hawaii Community College.

Guest choreographer Dori Yamada will join veteran choreographers and instructors Annie Bunker and Celeste Staton. Kea Kapahua also lends her talents to the night’s dance steps, while performing arts major Casey Hewett presents a senior project.

Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended due to the immense popularity of the show. Expect an uproarious and enthusiastically supportive crowd.

Tickets are available online at  http://hilo.hawaii.edu/depts/theatre/tickets/, or by calling 974-7310. Box office hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for the general public, and $5 for UHH or HawCC students, seniors, faculty and children. The University of Hawai’i at Hilo Performing Arts Center is located at 200 West Kawili St. in Hilo.
