The incident involved a Hilo man operating a 2007 Honda motorcycle north on Kinoole Street at about 10 p.m. The motorcycle struck a 2003 Honda sedan traveling south on Kinoole Street after its driver, a 67-year-old Kailua-Kona woman, failed to yield right of way and made a left turn onto Mohouli Street in front of the vehicle.

The motorcycle’s rider, 55-year-old Earl M. Arakaki, was hospitalized following the crash and succumbed to his injuries on Aug. 26.

Police ask that anyone with information on the incident call Officer Tuckloy Aurello at 961-8119.
