Police have arrested a Mountain View resident in connection with the murder of a man found dead in January in a subdivision in upper Puna.

The body of 52-year-old Robert John Leong was found Jan. 28 at an Eden Roc home in which he was residing. An autopsy showed that Leong died from a combination of ligature strangulation and a gunshot to the head.

Police on Wednesday arrested Walter Boyd Bremmer, 48, on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the death. He was also arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Brenner was being held today at the Hilo cellblock without charges pending further investigation.

Police again encouraged anyone with information on the investigation to contact Det. Ernest Matsumoto at 961-2379 or via email at [email protected].
