Police and members of the county’s administration will hold an informational meeting Tuesday regarding the recent increase in burglaries and car thefts across the Big Island, and particularly in Kona.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Konawaena High School cafeteria.

There is considerable concern about the recent spike in crime, Mayor Billy Kenoi said in a statement issued by the police department.

The meeting will give the department an opportunity to update the community on investigations. Officers will also discuss how to make homes less vulnerable to burglaries and how to help police apprehend the criminals.
