The 16th Annual Taste of Hawai’i

This weekend, Hawai’i Island has the golden opportunity to play as well as raise funds for a very good cause.

Three days of fundraising for cancer research includes a delicious foodie event and silent auction on Friday, a golf tournament, tennis competition and a run/walk.

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is the venue for this weekend of physical activity and palate pleasing from September 7 through September 9.

“All the proceeds go to a cure for cancer, and it stays in Hawai’i,” said Raphael Felder, resort assistant manager and coordinator for this weekend of fun.

Last year, the annual Taste of Hawai’i event had approximately 200 to 300 people in attendance. The entire weekend raised around $95,000 for a cure for cancer. This year’s goal is $100,000.

Attendees can bid on enticing prizes, sample morsels from the island’s best restaurants and have a great time doing something good. Felder exclaimed, “it’s really fantastic.”

Everything is donated. The food, the participating restaurants’ staff and the silent auction prizes are all given with a gracious spirit to support cancer research.

“It’s truly incredible because it’s something I’ve never seen before…this has become such a huge event…we have people calling us to take part in this,” said Felder.

Taste of Hawai’i tickets are $85 for adults and $40 for children. Tickets are available at the door. Reservations are appreciated and can be made by calling 808-325-8000. Dress is resort casual.

Enjoy live music, hula and fire dance performances. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the Hoku Amphitheatre.

The golf and tennis competition take place on Saturday. On Sunday at 7 a.m., cheer or join approximately 300 to 400 runners in the 5k and 10k run/walk event. Early registration and $25 recommended donation will include a t-shirt. It’s $30 on race day.
