A 64-year-old man involved in an overnight standoff at his Glenwood home Monday has been charged with several  offenses.

Police said Dasa Sivam was charged late Wednesday with criminal trespass, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts of terroristic threatening.

His bail was initially set at $20,500 pending a court appearance this afternoon.

Police were called to Sivam’s Fern Forest home at mid-morning Monday after receiving reports he had threatened his Kokokahi Road neighbors with a machete.

When officers arrived, the suspect barricaded himself inside the house and claimed he had a machine gun. Negotiations by the police department’s Special Response Team continued throughout Monday night until Sivam was arrested after emerging from the house at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

No machine gun was found.

Lt. Gregory Esteban of the East Hawai`i Criminal Investigations Section said the trespass charge stemmed from Sivam’s alleged scaling of a fence around a neighbor’s property.
