Hawaii Stars Release Inaugural Schedule
The Hawaii Stars will open their first season as an independent league baseball franchise today on Maui when they face Na Koa Ikaika Maui at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday’s game kicks off a six game series on the Valley Island, and a 54 game schedule that runs through the middle of August.
The entire schedule was officially released Monday prior to the season opener. It might sound a little late to officially release the schedule the day before the season’s beginning, but based on how unorthodox of a path it has been to get this team ready to play baseball in Hilo, all within less than two months time, the timing is understandable.
The Stars will be competing in the North American Baseball League (NAL), a four team league that include Na Koa of Maui, San Rafael Pacifics, and the Sonoma County Sonoma Grapes. Each series will last six games, with weeknight games played at 5:35 p.m., and doubleheader and Sunday games beginning at 1:35 p.m. All home games will be played at Francis Wong Stadium.
