A tour helicopter made what county firefighters described as a “precautionary” landing in a Puna field earlier today.

A warning light prompted the pilot of the aircraft operated by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to make the landing, Capt. Roger Carvalho of the Keaau fire station said in a statement.

The landing in an open field off North Kulani Road occurred shortly before 2 p.m.

Carvalho said no one was injured, and a mechanic from the tour company was expected at the landing sight to assess the situation and make arrangements for the chopper’s four passengers to be shuttled back to Hilo.
