Police: Purse Snatched From 86-Year-Old Woman

Police are investigating a purse-snatching that occurred on Haili Street in Hilo Tuesday night.

Police said an 86-year-old woman was walking near the Palace Theater at about 5:39 p.m. when she was pushed from behind and her purse taken by an unknown male.

The victim fell and sustained minor injuries but declined treatment, police said.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot, approximately 130 pounds with a medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a tan shirt with an orange rectangular design and possibly blue jeans.

The case has been classified as a second-degree robbery.
