Big Island police have arrested a 29-year-old Kona woman who allegedly stole a rental car.

Police said they were informed on March 4 that Michelle T. Regohos had failed to return a 2012 Nissan Altima sedan she had rented from the Kona airport. A bulletin was issued for the woman and the car.

Around noon on Tuesday, a Kona patrol officer found Regohos in the car in Kailua-Kona. Police said the license plates on the car had been changed.

Officers executing a search warrant on the vehicle allegedly found 31 zip packets and a glass smoking pipe, all of which had residue believed to be of methamphetamine. Other drug paraphernalia was also allegedly found.
