Big Island police said a 38-year-old Kona man died early today from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash Wednesday night.

The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Henry Street and Palani Road in Kailua-Kona.

Police said Caleb Wolfson was riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Henry Street when he struck a concrete barrier and was thrown off his bike.

Fire Department paramedics took Wolfson to Kona Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:12 a.m. today.

Police said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. It was not known if Wolfson was wearing a helmet, but a helmet was found at the scene.
