University of Hawaii at Hilo sophomore Travis Russell was awarded twice this week by the PacWest Conference, honoring him with their golfer of the week award.

The first of the pair of honors came on Wednesday, when the conference announced Russell as the top golfer for the first week of the season. They recognized him for his performance at the 2012 Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, finishing in 42nd place at the tournament, which was held during the first three days in February. Russell finished at +1 for the tournament, which featured golfers from 15 different Division I programs, plus two Division II programs, including UHH.

His second honor arrived on Saturday, when the PacWest recognized him as the top golfer during the third week of the season. Russell finished in a tie for 18th place at the John Burns Invitational, held on the island of Oahu. He finished at even par for the tournament, which hosted 105 different collegiate golfers.

The sophomore from Costa Mesa, California finished on the all-conference first team in 2011 as a freshman.
