Rapozo died in the crash involving another vehicle that occurred at about 11:30 a.m. near the 14-mile marker on Highway 190.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit has opened up a negligent homicide investigation. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are not sure if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but believe that speed played a role. The victim was not wearing a helmet.

The crash occurred about two miles south of the Waikoloa Road junction, in the vicinity of construction for the Ke‘amuku bypass of Saddle Road.
