At UHH Japan Quake and Tsunami Anniversary Fundraiser
One year later the ripples and emotional aftershocks of Japan’s tragic event continue to resonate with people worldwide.
The Aloha State continues to show their vibrantly warm spirit by remembering those that lost lives, loved ones and their livelihoods with anniversary fundraisers.
Saturday, March 10, at 3 p.m. the Japan Club at Hawai’i Community College invites everyone to help raise money for Japan’s children and youth who need physical and emotional assistance.
Goods donated by local businesses and artists will be up for grabs in the silent auction. People can peruse some of the auction items from Mayumi Oda, Sig Zane, Burgado’s Fine Woods and Dragon Mama, while munching on locally favorite foods from Miyo’s, Island Naturals, Two Ladies Kitchen and KTA.
In addition to satisfying taste buds, event-goers will enjoy free entertainment provided by Mark Yamanaka, Shizuno Nasu, Yumi Kikuchi and Pele Defense Fund-Native Hawaiian Rights. All proceeds of this event will go to various foundations to help Japanese children and youth.
This fundraiser will take place at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo’s Campus Center Plaza and is free to the public. The night will end around 8 p.m. The UHH is located at 200 West Kawili Street in Hilo.
