BRIEF: Man Injured in Body Surfing Incident at Laaloa

An unidentified male is recovering from injuries suffered from an apparent body surfing accident at Laaloa Beach Park in Keauhou.
The Hawaii Fire Department responded to a call after noon on Sunday of a near drowning at the beach park. County lifeguards were able to remove him from the water and perform CPR on the man as soon as they got him to land. Medical crews arrived and took him to the emergency room at Kona Community Hospital, where he is currently recovering.
According to the fire department, spinal injuries possibly occurred from body surfing in the area. No word has been given on the man’s identity or age.
