Big Island Surf Forecast
Hilo side: Surf heights are expected to be waist high or less today. Many spots will be flat.
Kona side: Surf heights are expected to be pretty flat today. New swell is forecast to fill in, possibly up to waist high by sunset.
South: Surf heights are expected to be pretty flat today. New swell is forecast to fill in, possibly up to waist high by sunset.
Tropical swell is possible next week from Sanvu in the West Pacific. We will keep an eye on it and watch as this system develops.
Surf along south facing shores is expected to rise through the second half of the work week. Thursday it should get above advisory level and hold from Thursday through as long as Saturday before slowly trending down through the second half of the holiday weekend and into early next week.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
