The Hilo Orchid Society 65th Annual Orchid Show, held Friday through Sunday, June 2 through 4, 2017, at Edith Kanaka‘ole Stadium in Hilo, is the state’s largest orchid show.

This year’s theme was “Jewels of the Jungle.” The show featured an exquisite array of thousands of colorful orchid displays, Hawaiian music entertainment, orchid demonstrations, a silent auction and various vendors booths selling an assortment of goods.

Among the displays were exotic orchid species and hybrid species that are not typically found at the major retail outlets or grocery stores.

In addition to art, jewelry, a variety of orchid-related items and the various other vendors, orchids were available for sale that are suitable for beginner growers to experts.

Over 4,300 people Big Island residents and visitors attended the 2016 Hilo Orchid Show and Sale, making it one of the largest events in Hilo.

Each year, awards are given in two categories: American Orchid Society Merit Awards and Hilo Orchid Society Ribbons.
