HFD Recovers Body Near Honopue Valley

The Hawai‘i County fire Department recovered a body near the coastline south of Honopue Valley in N. Kohala at 11:17 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Kayakers found the partially clothed and semi-decomposed body of a male floating in a pool at the bottom of a large waterfall and notified the HFD.

A command post was set up at Pololu Valley lookout. C-1 personnel identified location of body with help of a kayaker.

BC2 coordinated a scene investigation with HPD detective who was flown to the scene.

The body was then recovered by C-1 personnel and long-lined with a Billy Pugh net to Co.15 personnel at the command post.
