The Hawaiʻi Lodging & Tourism Association (HLTA) will hold its annual Charity Walk benefit on Saturday, May 13, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort. This year’s fundraising goal is $315,000 on Hawaiʻi Island.

Registration will be held at the resort’s Queens’ Marketplace, with post-event food and entertainment in the Waikoloa Bowl. The entry fee is $35 for adults and $25 for children, ages 5 to 12. Runners will begin at 6:45 a.m. and walkers are scheduled to start at 7 a.m.

In 2016, the event raised $2 million statewide. The event is held on six islands, each organizing their own Walk independently.

Proceeds from the benefit will provide funding opportunities to local 501(c)3 charity organizations within Hawaiʻi County.

The Charity Walk first started in 1975 with the Hawaiʻi Hotel Association, the predecessor of the HLTA. It expanded to other islands in 1978, and has raised more than $30 million for local charities since its inception.
