Police Seek Public Help to ID Shoplifting Suspect

The public’s help in identifying a woman who was captured on surveillance camera while shoplifting at a Downtown Hilo establishment has been requested by authorities.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, the unidentified woman left the store without paying for a bottle of liquor. The incident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday.

The woman is believed to be in her mid-40’s, about 5-feet tall, and 145 pounds. Police say she was identified as having a fair complexion, brown hair in a ponytail, and was wearing light shorts and a dark tank top. She also had a dark handbag.

Anyone with information regarding the woman’s identity should call Officer Michael Santos directly at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous should call the Big Island Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300.
