UPDATE: Police Locate Body in Waipio

The Hawai’i Police Department reports that the body located in Waipio Valley on Thursday was found unresponsive in a small stream.
Officers responded to the valley after receiving reports of the man, who was first found by area residents.
The victim was partially submerged in a stream.
Area I Criminal Investigations detectives responded to the scene and recovered the body that appears to belong to a Caucasian male.
The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center, when he was officially pronounced dead.
Authorities say the victim’s name is being held pending notification of his family.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident as a coroner’s inquest. An autopsy will be conducted Friday morning.

The Hawai’i Police Department has confirmed that a body was located in Waipio Valley Thursday evening.
The body, which has not been identified, was located at 5:56 p.m.
An HPD spokesperson said the incident is being investigated as a coroner’s inquest. An autopsy will be conducted.
