Spear Tip Stolen from Hilo’s King Kamehameha Statue

The top section of the Hilo King Kamehameha statue spear has been stolen.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, the statue, located at Wailoa State Park, was last seen on Saturday and was reported missing on Sunday at 2:48 p.m.

The spear is about six feet in length and is made of bronze. It is also brown in color with some oxidation and has a gold-colored tip.

Anyone with information regarding the incident, including the identity of suspects or the whereabouts of the stolen top section of the spear, should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Interested individuals can also contact Officer Matthew Lewis directly at 961-2213.
