Hamakua Man Sought by Police

A 43-year-old Hamakua man is being sought by the Hawai’i Police Department on a bench warrant for contempt of court.

Dan Vanells, who also goes by the names Dan Van Ells and “Danno,”is also wanted for questioning in connection with another incident.

Police describe Vanells as 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds. He has hazel eyes and blonde hair. He may also have a goatee.

Vanells is last known to have lived in Waipio Valley.

Anyone with information regarding Vanells’ whereabouts should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call the Big Island Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300.
