HPD: ‘Bullet Hole’ Found at Subaru Telescope

An Investigation is underway of damage caused to an observatory at the summit of Mauna Kea.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, officers responded late Saturday night to what police say appeared to be a “bullet hole” in a door at the Subaru Telescope at the Mauna Kea summit.

Police say the incident occurred between Friday and Saturday evenings.

Anyone who has information about the incident should call Officer Nelson Cacho at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
