No Tsunami Threat Following 6.8M Japan Earthquake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a 6.8 magnitude earthquake near the East coast of Honshu, Japan.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred Tuesday at 11:13 a.m. Hawai’i time.

USGS says the earthquake was located 21 miles south east of Ofunato, Japan; 26 miles south south-east of Kamaishi, Japan; 31 miles south south-east of Otsuchi, Japan; 39 miles south east of Tono, Japan; and 256 miles north north-east of Tokyo, Japan.
