HOVE Fire: Man Arrested After Admitting Arson

The Hawai’i County Fire Department responded to a 6:13 p.m. structure fire along Pineapple Parkway in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Friday evening, where they found a 30-by-60-foot two-story home engulfed in flames.

Three of the residents who lived in the home were away at the time of the fire.

According to HFD officials, a male in his 50’s who lived in the home was taken into Hawai’i Police Department custody after admitting he began the fire.

When HFD arrived, both floors of the home were in flames. The structure has been deemed a total loss.

Thirteen HFD personnel responded to the scene, including four volunteer firefighters.

No one was injured in the incident.
