Pier 1 Imports has announced that it will be opening its newest Big Island location at the Prince Kuhio Plaza on Friday, March 20.

The location will be the Big Island’s second, after the first store opened its doors to the public on June 22, 2012 at the old Ross in the Kona Coast Shopping Center.

Store officials say the grand opening of the Prince Kuhio Plaza location will include a traditional Hawaiian blessing, live music, and more.

Pier 1 Imports is the latest addition to the plaza after Hilo Hattie closed last month. The store occupies the space next to the Macy’s Men, Children and Home sections and was previously occupied by Church on a Sure Foundation that has since moved to the old Kress Theater in Downtown Hilo.
