UH-Hilo’s Abarra Earns PacWest Weekly Golf Award

University of Hawai’i at Hilo golfer Shannon Abarra has been named the PacWest Conference’s Women’s Golfer of the Week. The award covers matches played between Feb. 12-18.

Abarra, a sophomore from Wailuku, Maui, shot a team-best 166 over two rounds at the Lady Rattler Invitational, held at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Tex. Her best tally was a final round 79. Her overall score was good for a share of 27th place.

UH-Hilo was the only PacWest team to compete in the event. The Vulcans finished in 14th place, 76 strokes behind Dallas Baptist, who won with a team score of 625.

Next up for UH-Hilo is the St. Edward’s Invitational, held in Austin, Tex. The tournament will be held Feb. 22-24.
