Vehicles Damaged by Running Over Rocks on Roadways

Police are warning motorists to be on the lookout for football-sized rocks lying on roadways in Hilo.

Three drivers reported damage to their vehicles that resulted from striking rocks at about 2 a.m. today.

Two of the incidents occurred on Route 19 near Alae Cemetery and the third on Haihai Street.

Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in the early morning hours, especially when visibility is limited by rain.

The public is also asked to report any suspicious activity to 935-3311.
