Rodeo Arena Opening Kicks Off Honoka`a Western Week

A blessing and opening of the Rose Andrade-Correia Stadium Honok a`a Rodeo Arena will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, at 45-3257 Hawaii Belt Road.

The opening is being held in conjunction with Honoka`a Western Week, which runs May 19-26.

Organizers invite the public to wear your western duds and come on down to Honoka`a town for a rockin’ good time (yee haw!).

The 58th Hawaii Saddle Club Scholarship Rodeo is scheduled from noon to pau on Sunday, May 25, and Monday, Memorial Day, at the Honoka`a Rodeo Arena.

saloon girls honokaa western weekOther Western Week events include a Chili Cook-off on Monday, a make-your-own stick horse art event on Tuesday, and a performance by the Honoka`a Ensemble Class on Wednesday.

On Friday, the Stick Horse Races begin at 3 p.m., followed by the Paniolo Parade on Mamane Street at 4, the Steak Fry and Beer Garden at 5 and the Saloon Girl and Cowboys Got Talent Contests at 6.

There will be music and dancing in the street beginning at 8 p.m.
