Police Investigating Attempted Murder in Kona

A Kona man was treated for a gunshot wound and released following a confrontation this morning in a Holualoa subdivision.

The 26-year-old victim told police responding to a 7:47 a.m. call that he and his girlfriend had been walking down Waiono Meadows Road when they encountered a female acquaintance driving up the road.

The man told police that he and the woman driving the vehicle got into a confrontation and she allegedly shot him with a rifle.

The suspect then drove down the road toward Highway 180.

The victim, a resident of Holualoa, was taken to Kona Community Hospital and later released.

The incident is has been classified as a case of attempted murder.
